NOTE: Malibu Farm Restaurant is not to be confused with Malibu Farm Pier Cafe. We walked to the end of the pier to check out the latter and decided we’d prefer dining at the restaurant rather than the cafe. They are owned and operated by the same people. There was a wait at the cafe and none at the restaurant which I don’t quite understand.
On a recent weekend in Malibu for a BEAUTIFUL Â wedding I had the pleasure of dining at Malibu Farm Restaurant. I liked everything about this restaurant past the hostess stand. (Since I don’t get into highlighting the less-than-exemplary aspects of things here at 5 Heart Rating, we’ll just skip the experience we had when greeted by the two young ladies at the entrance. I use the term “greeted” very loosely here.)
This restaurant is doing everything right and hits on every single point as outlined in the article below by Amateur Gourmet, “Signs You’re in a Good Restaurant”. (I love this list but would definitely add my two favorite points when assessing the quality of a restaurant – dessert and restrooms. I believe if the dessert is really good, of course house-made, and the restrooms are spotless and have character, the restaurant will be good. So far, this has been proven 100% accurate in my experience.)
Just a couple of specifics about my personal experience at the restaurant without getting into it too much – 1) They have fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice for the mimosas along with some very unique additional choices to add to your sparkling beverage, and 2) my tofu and spinach scramble (I requested egg be added) was excellent! My friend Melanie’s lobster scramble was at least as good with huge chunks of fresh lobster. And I mean huge!
Here’s a link to the list I mentioned and below that is a link to Malibu Farm.
