Beginner’s Mind, Yo-Yo Ma, Audible Original

NOTE: You’ll need access to Audible in order to hear this gem. I love Audible, a 5 Heart Rating, and have used it for years.

An absolutely beautiful hour spent listening to Yo-Yo Ma’s own voice with, of course, quite a sprinkling of him playing all throughout. (I’ve already listened twice and it just came out yesterday. I LOVE the cello! And now I love Yo-Yo Ma even more.)

I’ll leave the details for you to enjoy yourself. But one of the things that stood out for me in this passionate exploration of culture’s role in helping us to imagine and build a better future, is a quote from Ma’s idol, Pablo Casals in which he says he is a human first, a musician second, and a cellist third.

Described as “four stories of beginnings”, Ma talks about hope in the endless possibility of human curiosity, creativity, and collaboration. You will learn a little about a lot of things related to Yo-Yo Ma, his life, his family, the person he is and what he finds important. It’s a fascinating listen. Almost 100% of which I did not know about the great cellist. Enjoy!

PS Yo-Yo Ma recorded this Audible masterpiece about 5 miles from where I live now!
